Peru '07

Peru With a population of pure-blooded Indians and Mestizos (a mixture of Indian and European backgrounds), tasty meals often prepared with the staple of quinoa, and the all too familiar process of acclimatizing to the high altitudes of the Andes, Peru is also home to the infamous Incan ruins of Machu Picchu

Itinerary

This Adventure started with a visit to the Sacred Valley of the Inca with time to explore local ancient towns. A trip via the Orient Express Train to incredibly spiritual Machu Picchu was followed by a stay in private bungalows in the famous town of Agua Calientes.  The members spent a day getting their hands dirty by starting the construction on a school that they funded in the Huilloq Community. Exploring Cusco came next with plenty of time to taste the local culture and learn from our mentor Keith Cunningham.
